Egg Donation

The Egg Donation Path

Egg donation is an incredibly common means of helping to create a family. Some situations allow an Intended Mother to carry the embryo herself while others will require a Surrogate.

It is not an easy decision to choose to accept help to create your family. There are societal pressures in place that tell women it’s necessary to conceive, carry, and deliver their baby entirely on their own. Oftentimes, however, this is not possible.

A common concern among Intended Parents who use egg donation is that the child will not share in the maternal bond if they are not biologically connected to the Intended Mother. This assessment is untrue.

What makes a family?

Research has shown that biological factors are not the key ingredients to creating a family. Instead, loving support, bonding, and connection are what form a family. This bond will begin long before the baby is even born as you partake in the shared joy of pregnancy with your Surrogate, following closely every step of the way. GSHC Surrogacy Agency advocates for strong Intended Parent involvement in the journey for just this reason.

This bond will form naturally between you and your child as long as you are involved in his or her life. From the moment of their birth, you will begin to put their needs above your own and support them physically as well as emotionally. Over the days, weeks, and months that follow, you will cheer for your child’s successes and cry with them over their failures. This involvement, love, and dedication will drive the maternal bond with your child.

If you have concerns about parental bonding in the surrogacy process, please do not hesitate to reach out to GSHC Surrogacy Agency for more information so that you can feel as comfortable as possible in the decision.
